The ISS is an intelligent transmission that provides instant and effortless gear shifting.
During gear shifts, electronic units control the transmission and the engine as to minimize speed differences between involved gears –and the torque transmitted through them–.
Besides the convenience for the driver, the ISS reduces fuel waste associated to gear shifting in conventional manual and automated vehicle transmissions.
